Blog Post - No. 1

It all begins with inspirational views or visions, an idea of what you might make and what from - pencil, pastel, paint, ink canvas .

I’m an inveterate sketcher. In a conversation someone once said to me about travel “I can’t stand all that waiting around for the flight to be called, it’s boring”……… poor sole, I thought. There is never enough time and there are so many interesting people and situations - catch someone reading a paper or book, or two people talking, a mother taking care of her brood…..there is so much to sketch or just watch - they call it people watching. But this is the moment when you realise the movement of body, the expressions on the face, the affect of a smile.

I may or may not use my sketches for anything else than filling time, but they bring back memories of the moment. Or if you have small box of paints and a brush like the Winsor & Newton box with water and a brush, you can even study colour and make notes of the changes that you see in light or shadow.

This website has taken me a long time to develop (actually an ongoing project) and I have had a few upsets recently with the loss of my sister and now one of my dogs (Benson) has gone over the rainbow. I have therefore taken a back seat lately but hope to be back on track in January.

Do come back - I intend to make a Blog about once a month and encourage response from you my viewers.

Meantime: I wish all my followers a Very Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year!
