Inspired by a visit to a friends garden on the island of Kalymnos, Greece. The garden was on a very steep hill and sectioned into different garden areas - there were steps all over the place, divided often by the growth of tropic plants and trees and stonework. An intriguing plant that captured my attention! It was sent to me by a dear friend, so I simply had to paint it exactly as I saw it. The unpredictable arrangement of the branches and leaves, especially with the sunlight filtering gently through, provided a wonderful source of inspiration. Sitting on the wall just hanging out, having a coffee or not—what’s not to like. I turn to see the surrounding vegetation, which provides a cool, tranquil space to sit and thoughtfully cogitate. This serene environment offers the perfect opportunity to study, capturing the subtle nuances of light and shadow in the natural setting.
